Drivo TestHelping learners understand
the rules of the road.

I researched, designed and built a free app to help learners in Spain understand driving theory and practise difficult questions again.

01 / Why I started

The tools helped people take tests.
I wanted to help them learn.

Practice tests helped people test themselves, not understand the rules. Learner interviews and early testing pointed to three needs.

01 / Understand
DetenciónParadaEstacionamiento

Help explain difficult terms

Similar road terms were hard to tell apart. I added explanations and a visual glossary to help learners understand the difference.

02 / Fit the moment
10minutes to practise

Work in short sessions

Learners studied in short breaks. I offered flexible practice alongside full mock exams, so they could choose what fit their time.

03 / Build confidence

Bring difficult questions back

A lucky guess can hide a gap. I added a way to save doubts and bring those questions back into review.

03 / What I built & why

The decisions,
shown in the app.

Decision 01

Help learners understand the answer.

Learners could recognise an answer without knowing why it was right. I added immediate explanations and a visual glossary to help them connect each answer to a rule.

One question at a time, with clear answer choices.

Feedback explains the rule after an answer.

Pictures and short definitions make unfamiliar terms easier to explore.

Decision 02

Make the next step easy to find.

A short study break and a full mock exam need different kinds of support. I separated the modes so learners could choose between learning with feedback, testing themselves and looking up a topic.

Practice gives feedback. Mock exams offer 30 questions without hints.

Search and filters help learners find the questions they want to understand.

Decision 03

Bring doubts back into practice.

A correct answer can still be a guess. I added “Unsure” so learners could save that doubt. Answer history helps bring difficult questions back, with the aim of closing gaps that scores alone can miss.

“Marked for review” confirms that a question has been saved.

Learners can report unclear wording, an answer or an explanation that needs checking.

Review uses answer history to bring difficult questions back. I still need to test whether it helps learners remember more over time.

How I built it · AI as a development partner

From design decisions
to a working product.

I used AI as a coding partner to turn my design decisions into a working app. I built the web version first, then adapted it for iPhone.

01 / Interface

Turn the designs into code.

AI helped build the screens and interactions in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

02 / Learning logic

Connect answers to review.

The app records mistakes and doubts on the device and uses that history to choose questions for review.

03 / Feedback

Make issues easy to report.

In-app reports identify the question and the type of problem, giving me something specific to investigate.

04 / What comes next

Built, launched.
Now learning from use.

Next I’ll test whether learners understand the rules, build a study habit and remember what they learn. These are planned measures, not results.

Next / Understanding

Understand the rule.

In learner sessions, ask people to explain a rule after answering. Revisit the same concept later and record repeat mistakes.

Next / Study habits

Build a study habit.

Run a seven-day learner pilot. Record session length, completed sessions and days people return to study.

Next / Recall

Remember it later.

Re-test saved doubts after seven days. Check both the answer and the learner’s explanation of the rule.
